How do I maintain my plaque?

This plaque is coated with two coats of poly acrylic, however if it will be hung outside, like any wood permanently outside, it NEEDS to be maintained to preserve its integrity. If your plaque will be exposed directly to the elements it will be at higher risk for paint fading and peeling if not maintained. And once paint starts to peel, the raw wood underneath begins to be exposed leading to rotting and warping. We strongly suggest inspecting your plaque several times a year and re-coating as necessary. Do NOT use polyurethane or varnish when re-coating as it will yellow the sign. Poly acrylic is the best product to use. We do not assume responsibility for failure to maintain the plaque. A maintenance card comes with your plaque and can also be viewed here.

How do I hang my plaque?

Your plaque comes with a sawtooth hanger installed onto the back. Depending on where you are hanging your plaque that may be sufficient, i.e. indoors or a location that is protected from wind. If you are concerned about wind or it being knocked off another way, we suggest also using using L-hooks or also called bent hooks. We do not provide these as they come in many different sizes and finishes and you’d need to choose one that works for your home. Click here to see a photo of them in action.

Will I see a mock-up before the plaque is made?

Yes, before we start any plaque we email you a mock up for your approval. Please keep an eye on your email several days after you place an order. This is your opportunity to make changes. Once approved, we may not be able to make any further changes.

Can you replicate an existing plaque?

Maybe! Please send us a message using the contact form and attach of photo of your existing plaque from a head-on view and give us the dimensions. Please note, we can only do rectangles, no ovals or intricate corner cutouts, etc.

Can you salvage an existing plaque?

Maybe! If it’s just the paint that is fading or peeling, it’s possible. However, if there is any damage to the wood like splintering, rotting, or warping, probably not. Send us a message.
